A Life member of the NRA, currently serving his 14th term as Alaska's only Member in the U.S. House. He is Chairman of the House Resources Committee and Ranking Republican on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. Executive Council Chair of the Congressional Sportsman's Caucus. Avid hunter and sportsman. Unfailingly committed to the protection of the Second Amendment and votes consistently toward that end. Voted against Brady Bill and "Assault Weapons" ban. Successfully amended 1993 Crime Bill to include provision protecting hunters' rights. Original cosponsor of legislation repealing the "Assault Weapons" ban. Sponsored legislation to reign in abuses of Pittman/Robertson Trust Fund by USF&WS. 2000 Recipient of the Outdoor Life Conservation Award. Past recipient of: Alaska Second Amendment Coalition Award; NRA Defender of Individual Rights Award; Americans for Constitutional Action Distinguished Service Award.
