Wayne LaPierre and Tanya Metaksa Tour California! Meet with Grassroots leaders across the state

In Richmond, Pasadena and Ontario, NRA Leadership and Grassroots activists strategize to protect the Right-To-Bear-Arms in California.

      On a quick, three-stop tour of California in mid-February, Wayne LaPierre, Tanya Metaksa, and NRA Staff members Ed Worley and Paul Payne answered questions and discussed strategies with key California activists. Of course, NRAWinningTeam.com can't reveal details, but is happy to report that Wayne promised a lot of support to California in our battle this year, including a repeated promise that Tanya Metaksa would play a key role in important national and/or state projects, and will continue to be a top-level advisor in the Association.

      Tanya's unexpected presence invigorated the crowd, prompting several well-known activists to give empassioned pleas for Tanya's continued leadership. "Tanya is the best thing that ever happened to this Association," proclaimed one prominent Northern California activist loudly - prompting a standing ovation from an energetic audience. Tanya graciously thanked the crowd for their support and lent her years of experience to answering technical questions during the strategic discussions.

      The ensuing meetings carried on for hours, covering a wide range of topics and suggestions. Wayne discussed some exciting new programs from NRA, such as new celebrity endorsements and legislative endeavors, most notably halting legislatively the ability of gun-prohibitionists to sue gun makers, as NRA recently succeeded in doing in Georgia.

      Also very positive were the reports from California Staff members, who gave direction on defeating the gun bans to be introduced this year, despite a hostile Legislature, Governor, and Attorney General. NRAWinningTeam.com has witnessed NRA-ILA, under the leadership of Tanya Metaksa, working with her California Members' Councils, win big victories in 1997 and 1998 against a veritable blitzkrieg of anti-gun legislation. The pundits said it couldn't be done, but the unity of NRA, the competence of our Staff, and the organization of the California grassroots saved the day. When the dust cleared, we even gained important ground in shooting range protection, CCW reform, and indemnifying SKS owners who would otherwise have become felons through Dan Lungren's administrative fiat.
