U.S. HOUSE LEADERSHIP SET
REPUBLICANS MAINTAIN PRO-GUN TEAM
Democrats and Republicans this week established their
respective parties' leadership positions in the Congress. The
Republicans elected supporters of our right to keep and bear arms
to their key positions, while Democrats chose anti-gun
leadership.
The Republicans selected:
- Speaker of the House - Bob Livingston (pro-gun) from Louisiana
(actual official selection
subject to pro forma vote in the House)
- Majority Leader - Richard Armey (pro-gun) from Texas
- Majority Whip - Tom DeLay (pro-gun) from Texas
- Conference Chair - J.C. Watts (pro-gun) from Oklahoma
- Conference Vice-Chair - Tillie Fowler (pro-gun) from Florida
The Democrats selected:
- Minority Leader - Richard Gephardt (anti-gun) from Missouri
- Minority Whip - David Bonior (anti-gun) from Michigan
- Caucus Chairman - Martin Frost (mixed record) from Texas
- Caucus Vice Chairman - Robert Menendez (anti- gun) from New Jersey
