Sounding more like Hillary Clinton than a candidate for the Republican presidential nomination, Elizabeth Dole continued to actively promote a number of gun control proposals. Last week, during a candidate forum in New Hampshire, Dole made comments indicating that she supports bans on semi-automatic firearms, restrictions on ammunition, and government mandated trigger locks. This week, she went even further by attacking Right To Carry laws. In remarks prepared for a womens forum in D.C., on Tuesday, Dole stated "I think it's wrong to let people carry concealed weapons." She continued saying, "I believe Americans want their presidents to be inspiring, effective and confident...and determined to ensure the safety of our kids on the streets and in their schools -- even if it means having the guts to stand up to the gun lobby." Please contact the Dole campaign to express your opposition to her misguided support for more Clinton-style gun control laws and to urge her to stop vilifying the NRA. Also, contact the other Republican presidential candidates and urge them not to put an anti-gun candidate like Elizabeth Dole on their ticket if they win the GOP nomination. This contact information is available from the Grassroots Division and is also listed at www.nra.org on the Grassroots page.
