CHARGES DROPPED AGAINST JUDGE

No role for Politics

In a story related to the Navegar decision, the state Commission on Judicial Performance in California recently voted 8-1 to dismiss judicial misconduct charges against Justice J. Anthony Kline. Kline, well-known as an outspoken liberal Democrat, had refused to follow a California Supreme Court decision, claiming he was acting "as a matter of conscience."

His actions led to the charges being filed against him in July 1998. The dismissal came after the make-up of the commission became dominated by Democrats. And the relationship with Navegar? It just so happens that Kline wrote the majority opinion allowing the suit against the firearm manufacturer to be reinstated.
