CLINTON-GORE EXPLOIT LITTLETON TRAGEDY -- ACT II
|
|
"...The Clinton-Gore proposals include
a litany of anti-gun schemes that would affect only the law-
abiding..."
|

Denver NRA Members expressed their sympathy at the Annual Meeting |
|
In the aftermath of the Littleton tragedy, the Clinton-Gore
Administration isn't wasting any time attempting to further its
aggressive anti-gun agenda. Rather than responsibly studying the
factors that led to the actions perpetrated by two clearly
disturbed criminal teenagers, the Administration has introduced a
sweeping package of "gun control" proposals, and anti-gun
ringleaders in the Senate plan to introduce some or all of these
provisions as amendments to a juvenile justice bill under debate
in the U.S. Senate next week. The Clinton-Gore proposals include
a litany of anti-gun schemes that would affect only the law-
abiding, and which have previously failed or been introduced in
Congress, including:
|
- Holding adults responsible for the criminal acts of
children
- Rationing lawful gun purchases to one per month
- Restrictions on sale of firearms at gun shows
- A ban on the importation of magazines that can hold
over 10 rounds
- Reinstating and extending a permanent waiting period
- Requiring an intrusive background check and possible
waiting
period for reloading powders

Although
federal and state gun laws are more restrictive now
than at any previous point in U.S. history, and firearms -- by
any objective measure -- are less accessible to our youth than
they were a generation ago,
the Clinton-Gore Administration has
chosen shamelessly to exploit the tragedy at Columbine High
School in order to further its anti-gun agenda. At the same
time, the Administration dodges questions about its abysmal
record of failure to prosecute firearm-related crimes.
It is
urgent that you call your Senators at (202)224-3121 as soon as
possible, and urge them to oppose the Clinton-Gore "gun control"
package. Also, as an NRA-ILA Volunteer, we ask that you contact
five of your fellow Second Amendment supporters and encourage
them to call their Senators as well.
Also, in an obvious attempt to create the false image that
the Administration is concerned with "studying" violence in
America, Clinton has called for a so-called "summit" at the White
House on Monday, May 10. However, conspicuously missing from the
invite list is NRA, leaving one to wonder how the concerns of
law-abiding gun owners will be represented. In response to NRA
being left out of this "summit," NRA Executive Vice President
Wayne LaPierre will hold a major news conference on Monday, May
10, at 10:00 a.m. E.S.T., in the Murrow Room of the National
Press Club in D.C.. Mr. LaPierre will unveil proposals that will
immediately impact violent crime in America without infringing on
the rights of lawful citizens.
INTERESTING SIDE NOTE
In what can only be considered a bit of twisted irony, the
Denver Rocky Mountain News reported on May 4, that the mother of
the individual who allegedly supplied one of the firearms to the
Columbine shooters is a proud member of Handgun Control, Inc.!
