At the NRA Annual Meeting of Members held on May 19, 2001, Mike Haas introduced the following resolution of support for NRA's leadership. The resolution passed unanimously.
Mister President,

California is a pivotal battleground in the struggle for the preservation of the Second Amendment in America. For the last 12 years thousands of California gun owners, organized in dozens of Members' Councils throughout the golden state, have battled the onslaught of anti-gun owner, anti-freedom legislation that has emanated from the California legislature. In this struggle they have not been alone. The leadership of the National Rifle Association of America has been present and their presence has stiffened the activists' resolve to fight until a successful end. In recognition of that invaluable support that has made it possible to continue a very harsh struggle, this resolution is offered and it reads as follows:

Whereas, the support afforded by NRA's leadership made it possible during the last election cycle to mount the most serious campaign effort in California during its entire history, and

Whereas, Mr. Kayne Robinson, Ms. Sandra Froman, and especially Mr. Wayne LaPierre, have on numerous occasions, and at great personal sacrifice, come to California to aid and assist us in our efforts, and

Whereas, their support was instrumental in the defeat in spite of overwhelming odds of the draconian scheme to license and register gun owners only months ago, and

Whereas, their leadership has inspired us to acknowledge our combined accomplishments on our statewide web site, http://www.nramemberscouncils.com.

Therefore, be it resolved that the NRA Members' Council activists in California do hereby respectfully request that the NRA members assembled here in Kansas City, Missouri on this day, May 19, 2001 join with us in acknowledging and giving our unqualified support to President Charlton Heston, 1st Vice President Kayne Robinson, 2nd Vice President Sandra Froman, and especially Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre.

Respectfully submitted,

Michael Haas
