HOBGOOD RAFFLE OVERWHELMING SUCCESS

      Despite attempts by anti-Second Amendment zealots to pressure the Hobgood Academy to cancel its fund-raising raffle because firearms were the prizes (see FAX Alert Vol. 6, No. 41 and FAX Alert Vol. 6, No. 46), the private school in Halifax County, North Carolina, received overwhelmingly positive public response, both locally and nationally.

      After all is said and done, Hobgood should net at least $20,000.00 for its Future Farmers of America (FFA) class -- ten times what they had originally expected to raise!

      The success of the raffle will allow the Academy to not only pay for a new building for the FFA class, but also buy tools and other equipment, with some left over that will be donated to hurricane relief efforts for eastern North Carolina.
