HOBGOOD UPDATE

      Hobgood Academy, a private school in Halifax County, North Carolina, received national media attention earlier this year because of its fund-raising event that offered firearms as prizes in a raffle (see FAX Alert Vol. 6, No. 41).

      While anti-gun groups had hoped to use the "mainstream" media to put a national spotlight on the raffle, and pressure the sponsors to cancel it, the public response has not been as the gun-banners had hoped -- it has been overwhelmingly positive. The Academy sold far more raffle tickets than anyone had anticipated, and next Monday will be the first of five daily drawings where a firearm will be awarded.

      It has been reported that CNN will cover Monday's drawing, so be sure to watch CNN on Monday evening and Tuesday. And if you would like to offer your words of support for the folks at Hobgood, you can contact them at;
