Finally, It's Official -- Bush Will Be 43rd President
|
"...the Clinton-Gore Administration - the most anti-gun
administration this country has ever seen - will come to an end on
January 20..." |

On the evening of Tuesday, December 12, the U.S. Supreme Court
ruled in favor of Texas Governor George W. Bush in the case of
Bush v. Gore, thus removing the final roadblock in his bid to
become the 43rd President of the United States of America.
But the nation still had to wait nearly 24 hours before Al Gore would
concede (this added to the five-week delay Gore's legal
maneuvering had already caused because of his win-at-any-cost
attitude), which he finally did Wednesday night, at 9:00 p.m.
EST, on national television. President-elect Bush followed at
10:00 p.m., addressing the nation from the Texas Legislature.
Perhaps the strangest presidential election this country has ever
experienced is now behind us, and NRA members and the pro-gun
community can breath a brief sigh of relief with the knowledge
that the Clinton-Gore Administration - the most anti-gun
administration this country has ever seen - will come to an end on
January 20, 2001, Inauguration Day.
While our victories illustrate what we can accomplish working
together, we cannot afford to become complacent! Unfortunately,
there are still many lawmakers in Congress and state legislatures
who will pursue their gun-ban crusade, and we must stand ready to
turn back their efforts at every turn. Similarly, we must be
poised and ready to take advantage of any and all opportunities
to further strengthen our freedom!
The margins in both houses of
Congress are extremely thin, and we must now re-double our
efforts to ensure that our victories at the ballot box translate
into victories in the legislative arena. Rest assured we will
keep you posted on all related developments in future Alerts.
