DOJ Withholds Prosecution Numbers --
What are Clinton-Gore-Reno Hiding?
The Clinton-Gore-Reno Justice Department is refusing to release
data on the enforcement of federal gun laws. The Transactional
Records Access Clearinghouse (TRAC) (which analyzed
previously-released data showing federal referrals of gun
prosecutions declined 44% in the first seven years of
Clinton-Gore) has filed a suit against the Executive Office for
United States Attorneys (EOUSA) for its failure to comply with
TRAC’s Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA) requests to obtain the
data for analysis.
Several years ago, the Administration signed
legislation to provide the public information on the federal
government’s activities, claiming the Administration was
"committed to ensuring the widest possible disclosure of
government documents," and that "our democratic principles
require that the American people be informed of the activities of
their government." Janet Reno had also echoed similar sentiments.
In light of the Administration’s recent foot-dragging on TRAC’s
request, it would appear that, yet again, Clinton is reneging on
a promise. Of course this begs the question, what are they hiding
from voters?
