Once again, HCI has been caught red-handed distorting the facts about gun violence in America. According to The Washington Times, a staffer for Maryland Governor Parris Glendening forwarded gun-death data from the HCI website to the House Ways and Means Committee, claiming Maryland had 1,408 firearm-related fatalities in 1997, almost double the correct data. HCI also admitted misrepresenting gun-death data in several other states. The question begs to be asked -- how many restrictions on law-abiding gun owners have been passed because lawmakers were swayed by forged HCI statistics? For too long, HCI has gotten away with exploiting senseless tragedies for political gain. It's time HCI be held accountable for their utter dishonesty in their effort to eliminate the Second Amendment. When contacted by a reporter, NRA supplied the correct data.
