For several weeks there have been rumors circulating on the Internet and in the media that Citibank refuses to do business with lawful firearms dealers, and while NRA was aware of the situation, we declined to comment until we heard directly from Citibank regarding its policies. The story started when a gun dealer in Nevada was told, after opening an account with a local Citibank branch, that the account would be closed due to company policy. We have now received Citibank's official response to this issue, which is as follows:
Because of this policy, Citigroup, Inc., the parent company of Citibank and the second largest financial institution in the U.S., has been added to NRA-ILA's Anti-Gun Support fact sheet. If you are a Citibank customer, or do business with any of Citigroup's numerous subsidiaries, you may want to express your concerns regarding this policy that blacklists lawful firearms dealers.
