NO GUN EXPORTS TO CANADA

"...the American firearms industry seems to have been targeted for extinction by the current Administration, so eliminating a source of legitimate, legal revenue for gun makers seems like a natural step for the White House..."

Last April, the Clinton-Gore Administration began requiring any licensed gun manufacturer, distributor, or dealer to obtain an additional license in order to export firearms or ammunition to Canada. While there was no secret to the fact that the American firearms industry was involved in a healthy amount of lawful trade with our neighbors to the north, both the Clinton-Gore Administration and the anti-gun Canadian government feigned surprise when they offered detailed documentation that this commerce was thriving.

Now an Executive Order has put an end to American firearm and ammunition exports to Canada. Could the export prohibition have been concocted prior to the licensing requirement, and the licensing requirement used to provide "justification" for the export prohibition?

A Feb. 25 New York Times article stated that the export ban came about after the Canadian government requested it. If this is true, then it leads one to wonder when Canada -- which has implemented extremely Draconian gun control laws over the past several years -- began instructing our government on how to restrict the trade of lawful American businesses.

Of no surprise, however, is the eagerness with which the Clinton-Gore team is willing to honor such a request. After all, the American firearms industry seems to have been targeted for extinction by the current Administration, so eliminating a source of legitimate, legal revenue for gun makers seems like a natural step for the White House.
